Terra Yukon Gold Original Potato Chips
I love Yukon Gold potatoes. I’m not a chef (surprise of the century, I know), I eat but I’m not a foodie, and until recently, I didn’t pay much attention to the differences between potatoes. Then, this past June I found an old copy of Fine Cooking magazine and stumbled upon this mouthwatering recipe for Crushed Potato and Watercress Cakes. I bought Yukon Gold potatoes the next day, but upon returning home, realized that I forgot to buy watercress. Story of my life.
Anyway, I ended up using the Yukon Gold potatoes in other simple, uninspired dishes and soon discovered their wonderful texture (they’re a delight to slice) and buttery flavor. I was a fan, and I’m pretty sure that’s why I decided to try Terra Yukon Gold Original Potato Chips.
My chip love has been well-documented here on SkinnyOffice, and if you’re familiar with those posts, you’ll know that I require all of my chips to pack a solid crunch. Obviously the people behind Terra Yukon Gold Original Potato Chips knew this and created these thick, satisfyingly crunchy chips to avoid tarnishing my love of Yukon Gold potatoes. Aside from being delightfully crunchy, thick chips are great because you chew each chip more than you do its thinner equivalent, making it harder to wolf down an entire bag (or excessive amounts of chips) in one sitting.
Generally, I prefer flavored chips to non-flavored (it’s one of my eating rules, like all desserts need to have chocolate), but I do enjoy these Original Potato Chips. The only seasoning added to the chips is salt, yet the chip manages to pack in a lot of flavor due to the inclusion of Yukon Gold potatoes. Original/plain chips can be very boring, but these chips are hearty and leave both your mouth and stomach more than satisfied.
In addition to their great taste and great crunch, I enjoy these chips because they are made with Google-free ingredients: Yukon gold potatoes, canola oil and/or sunflower oil, and salt. From easy-to-read ingredients to classic flavor, it’s pretty clear that sometimes simple truly is the way to go.
