Doctor Kracker Pumpkin Seed Cheddar Crispbreads
Today’s product review can be attributed to my father and his penchant for buying healthy snacks instead of the good old-fashioned junk I crave. Sometimes this works out, but other times the snacks are so terrible that someone would have to actually pay me to eat them (these random sugar-free cookies come to mind). These Doctor Kracker Pumpkin Seed Cheddar Crispbreads fall under the former, so thanks Dad!
Upon taking my first bite, I realized that these crispbreads were definitely crisp; actually, they were hard. I like resistance in my food, but if you have sensitive or delicate teeth, eating this crispbreads could be quite the undertaking. The next thing I noticed was that despite having cheddar baked inside and sprinkled on top, these crispbreads weren’t the giant organic Cheez-it I had wished them to be. Nevertheless, the cheddar’s subtle presence wasn’t off-putting; it allowed me to taste the toasted pumpkin seeds scattered across the crispbread and every time I felt I wanted more cheese, a little flavorful pocket (as illustrated as the HD photo on the box) would appear, adding just enough to compliment the seeds and the crunch of the crispbread.
Overall, these crispbreads have a great-tasting delicate flavor combination that makes them a great companion to a variety of spreads and toppings. In addition to tasting great, they’re pretty big and filling (part of this may be due to the fact that you have to actually chew them and cannot eat them absentmindedly like some other snacks).
These crispbreads are USDA Certified Organic, and you can actually read and understand the ingredients. Each serving contains 100 calories, 4g of fat, 0 grams of trans fat, less than 5mg of cholesterol (1% of the daily recommended amount), 190mg of sodium (8% of the daily recommended amount), 4g of fiber (16% of the daily recommended amount), 0g of sugar, 5g of protein, 3% of the daily recommended amount of calcium, and 6% of the daily recommended amount of iron. With 11g of carbs per serving (4% of the daily recommended amount), they’re a low carb snack that is perfect for diabetics.
