D.L. Jardine’s Peach Salsa

I don’t like peaches. I’m not even sure I’ve ever eaten a real one, but my experiences with Peach Snapple and peach-flavored candies have convinced me that those fuzzy fruits aren’t my type. Go ahead, judge me.

That’s why I initially pulled a Commodus when my friend Isabella offered me some D.L. Jardine’s Peach Salsa a few years ago. Hello, I could see the peach chunks in the jar! Nooooooo thanks. But Isabella insisted and I figured that one bite wouldn’t kill me. At least, I hoped.

Surprise, surprise, I loved it! As someone whose previous interactions with peaches were strictly limited to artificial flavors, I was taken aback by the lack of an overwhelmingly peach flavor (which had always been an aggressively strong flavor to me). I still don’t actually know what a peach tastes like (go ahead, judge some more). That’s not to say that the peach is too subtle; rather, it adds a welcome sweetness to a relatively spicy salsa. The peach chunks were a nice inclusion in the salsa, adding a different texture and flavor to the tortilla chips.

One of the best attributes of the salsa is that the mild peach flavor makes it a great addition to a variety of dishes. It obviously tastes great with tortilla chips but it’s also works well with chicken, pork, quesadillas, quinoa, salmon, the list is practically endless! If you’re bringing lunch to work, this salsa is a great way to jazz up a meal without spending lots of time in the kitchen. It also holds up excellently if you reheat it in a microwave.

No, I did not make this
