These are vegan chocolate candy bars. I am not a vegan but I love chocolate and they were on sale so I decided to give two of them a try. I ended up choosing the Buccaneer bar and the Mahalo bar.

The Buccaneer bar is basically a Milky Way. I found the bar to be richer than a Milky Way which I attribute to the absence of caramel and a nougat filling that has a nice chocolate flavor. This bar is basically chocolate filled with fluffy chocolate so I definitely recommend it for any vegans who miss Milky Ways or like their chocolate bars sans nuts.
I will admit that I naively assumed the Buccaneer would have some nutritional benefits because I purchased in a health food store. I’m dumb, I know. The Buccaneer is a candy bar and never claims to be anything but a candy bar. Each bar has 230 calories and 33 grams of sugar versus Milky Way’s 262 calories and 35 grams of sugar.

The Mahalo is an Almond Joy. It has the coconuts, the almonds, and the chocolate. I don’t like Almond Joys. I think it is to chocolate bars what Rum Raisin is to ice cream (which is a joke). However, if you are a fan of Almond Joys, you will like this bar because it tastes just like one.
In addition to being vegan, the Mahalo is gluten-free. I couldn’t find the nutritional information for an Almond Joy of comparable size so I did some math and figured out that the Mahalo has 280 calories and 18 grams of sugar while an Almond Joy of the same size will have approximately 279 calories and 25 grams of sugar.
I sometimes expect vegan interpretations of food to be off in either flavor or texture and was pleasantly surprised by these bars. Go Max Go bars are a wonderful occasional treat for vegans, aspiring vegans, and people who are lactose intolerant. I only wish I had tried the Jokerz because it sounds like a Snickers bar.
